Early 80s Fender advertisement for 'The Strat' - a brand new, and rather elegantly appointed, souped up Stratocaster for the 1980s; gold hardware throughout, and with an overwound X-1 bridge pickup for a hotter, louder, lead tone. "With the flick of a finger, you switch from the standard Stratocaster mode to a nearly unlimited combination of new thicker sounds". The Strat was only available between 1980 and 1983.
Initially this American-made guitar was only available in Candy Apple Red (as shown here) and Lake Placid Blue finishes, but Artic White was also added in 1981. Note the reduced size, but matching coloured headstock, and black dot inlays.
