G&L S-500

G&L advertisement (1982) S-500 Guitar Specifications

With the S-500, Leo Fender continued the evolution of the Stratocaster design he had started almost 30 years earlier, adding in innovative new electronics, a new vibrato design, and using quality hardwoods throughout.

The S-500 debuted in 1982, and came equipped with some innovative new hardware:

  • Dual-Fulcrum vibrato
The vibrato unit pivots on two knife edge fulcrum points
  • Magnetic Field Design single-coil pickups
The magnetic field design of the G & L pickups is a totally new concept in the art of designing and manufacturing high output pickups
