This is an Ampeg short scale bass that sounds like a long scale bass. The Basslines pickup and the strings strung through the body are responsible for most of the punch and guts this bass has. The pickup is similar to the ones used on the Music Man Stingray. Depending on your pickup settings this can have a low, rumbling sound, a nice rock sound or anything in between. Vintage 1967 Ampeg ASB-1 4-string Electric Devil Bass Guitar. This is a rare instrument! Between 1966 to 1967 Ampeg made approximately 100 of these basses, 25 of which were fretless. This is a fretted one, making this rare bass 1 out of 75. It is all original except for the screw washer and gear on the tuner for the high "G" string.
