Details of the Fender Mustang bass. The bass pictured is in Competition Red. Other available finishes listed are: Competition Burgundy (as shown in the 1970 Fender catalogue), White and Sunburst. Note that the bass shown here does not have the painted headstock of the bass in the 1970 catalogue.

The 15/02/1972 list price for the Mustang bass was $239.50 (or $262.50 left handed). Incidently, this Fender price list suggests one other available colour, that was listed in the 1970 catalogue, but not mentioned at all in the '72: Competition Orange.
