1978 Gibson Quality / Prestige / Innovation catalogue, page 14. Details of two Gibson RD guitars, the Gibson RD Custom and Gibson RD Standard. This was to be the first and only US catalogue inclusion of these models, though the RD Artist, shown on page 13, also made the 1980 catalogue.

The guitars shown below are in Natural and Tobacco Sunburst finishes, but either was also available in a translucent Walnut finish.

In May 1978, US retail price for these guitars were as follows: Gibson RD Standard $659, RD Custom $759. (RD Artist was $859)
