Gibson 1980 guitar and bass catalogue. Page 25. Details of the Flying V II. This was the first (and only) catalogue appearance of the Flying V2, in fact, the first catalogue appearance of any Flying V since its inception in the 1958 catalogue. This is despite several reissues in the 1960s, and 1970s.

The July 1980 US price for the Flying V II was $1299; the same price as the Les Paul Artist, and the most expensive solid body guitar at the time.
