Goya 118 Panther II solid body bass

1966 Goya guitar catalogue page 10

Goya 1966 guitar catalogue. Page 10. Details of the Goya 118 solid-body bass guitar. Model 118 was available in the same four finishes as the Rangemaster 116 solid body guitars: Sunburst, Jet Black, Caribbean Blue and Fire Engine Red. The Fire Engine Red finish is shown here.

The 118 Panther II solid body was made by Galanti of Italy (in contrast to the Panther II semi-acoustic mentioned on page 7 which was made by Polverini). But both were short-scale instruments. Model 118 was listed at $299.50 in January 1966 - this was $10 more than a Gibson Thunderbird IV and $77 more than a Fender Precision bass - small wonder these sold in small numbers.
