The pickup with cover and polepieces removed. The coil windings are wrapped around a grey plastic former, with this single coil then covered with red tape. The dark grey/black magnet sits just below it in this image. The slotted-head polepieces extend from the cover through the appeture in the former and screw into a threaded bar attached to the baseplate (see the next picture). The positioning of the Hofner logo in relation to the polepieces show that this is a neck rather than bridge pickup.
