Hofner Club 40 and 50 guitars

Page 8 of the 1960 Selmer Catalogue

Selmer 1960 Hofner and Futurama catalogue. Page 8. Details and information about the Hofner Club 40 and 50 guitars; two slightly less decorated versions of the Club 60 on page 7. These two models were basically the same guitar, but with one (Club 40), or two (Club 50), toaster pickups. The associated controls were naturally different - including an extra volume control for the extra pickup.

Like the Club 60, these were hollow-bodied guitars, despite their looks, with a laminate spruce top and maple back and sides. Unlike the Club 60 with it's ebony fingerboard, the Club 40 and 50 used rosewood. Both were available in either blonde (natural) or brunette (sunburst) finishes.
