Vox (E.M.E) Ferro Sonic single coil bass pickup

Mid sixties Italian pickup, part 09-3983-0

This Vox bass pickup was always mounted with black plastic surrounds, of slightly differing dimensions (thickness) from model to model. Polepieces (non-adjustable) are slightly off-center, being positioned towards the neck and bridge. As can be seen from the underside, the pickup cover and bassplate are rivetted together; accessing the coil is not a trivial task. The coil with blue/grey plastic bobbin can be seen here below the bar magnet in this upside down pickup. The disassembled pickup assembly: mounting screws, springs and black plastic surrounds. The disassembled pickup assembly, underside view: two nuts (for the mounting screws) are attached to the underside of the pickup cover, allowing pickup height adjustment.
