Gibson Ripper L-9S bass

1980 Gibson guitar, bass and banjo catalogue, page 39

Gibson 1980 guitar and bass catalogue. Page 39. Details of the Ripper L-9S bass.

In 1980 the Gibson Ripper was nearing the end of it's production run. A few Rippers left Gibson's Kalamazoo plant at least as late as autumn 1982, but the vast majority were shipped in the seventies. This would be the last occasion that the original Ripper was included in a US Gibson catalogue.

The US list price in July 1980 was $699.
