In the mid 1960s, Gibson almost exclusively advertised itself as a brand, rather than specific products. And these adverts invariably featured virtuoso jazz guitarists that used a Gibson jazz box. This advert features Wes Montgomery and his L5-CES guitar. The illustration was by Canadian artist Neil Boyle, who also worked on other CMI publications around this time: ibson, Epiphone and Kalamazoo catalogues, aswell as further advertisements in this series. Whatsmore his work was also used by Fender at this time too.
The latest example of his incredible talent is Movin' Wes on which he plays his Gibson guitar with a blistering, driving, free-swinging style that ranges from the blues-inflected title song Moving' Wes to the virile and intense Caravan
