Gibson ES-175D and ES-175/CC

1978 Gibson Quality / Prestige / Innovation catalog, page 24

1978 Gibson Quality / Prestige / Innovation catalog, page 24. Details of perhaps the best-known Gibson jazz guitar of all time, the ES-175D and a new variant not shipped until 1979, the ES-175/CC - fitted with a single Charlie Christian pickup in the neck position.

Interestingly, the majority of Gibson's electric acoustic guitars were widely offered in additional new finishes in the mid-late 1970s. The ES-175D seems to have been an exception only listed here (and price lists of the time) in the traditional Sunburst and Natural. The Charlie Christian model, on the other hand, was only listed as available in Antique Sunburst and Walnut.

January 1979 US list prices for these two models were $899 for the ES-175/CC and $849 for the ES-175D.
