This advertisement from 1967 says a lot about Gibson in the 1960s. Whilst the rest of the world was going psychedelic, and letting it all hang out, Gibson was still using black and white images of older Jazz musicians in the majority of it's promotions. Perhaps they were saying serious musicians play Gibson guitars whilst kids use Fenders...
