The ES-335 Heritage was another of the limited production / test marketing models (see the inside cover) promoted in the 1981 Gibson Specials folder. The Heritage series launched with the Les Paul Standard-80, continued with this ES-335 in 1981, and then the Flying V Heritage in 1982.
A Limited Edition! A Timeless Tradition! Heritage! The Heritage series will contain only limited edition serialized instruments that are reflective of earlier issued Gibson "classics" and will be released periodically in the future
But unlike the other limited production models in this folder (The V, The Explorer, the Flying V bass and the Firebird II), the ES-335 Heritage became a regular model - before the end of 1981 it was renamed the ES-335 Dot.
Like the other limited production models mentioned, the ES-335 Dot had a launch price of $999.
