Details of the newly developed Guild solid body SB bass range, with an image of the single pickup SB-201 in Metallic blue, and two examples of the dual pickup SB-202 in White and Candy Apple Red. A third bass in the series, the SB-203 (with three pickups!) is pictured on the next page.
Over the last few years, every guitar company has made an issue of the fact that contemporary bass players have more visibility in a band than at any time since the late 60s. We agree with this. More importantly, we did something about it. Our SB-201, SB-202, and SB-2O3 models cut through to let players showcase their talents to the fullest. All these models offer exceptional balance and feel, plus quality hardware like our adjustable BT-4 bridge and Guild deluxe machine heads with a 22:1 gear ratio. The differences between models are in electronics. The SB-201 has one Guild split pickup with volume and tone controls. The SB-202 has two split pickups, phase switch, pickup selector switch, two volume controls and master tone control. The SB-203 has three pickups, which as far as we know, is an industry first for bass guitars. This offers the bassist 13 different tonal combinations.
Note, these basses pictured are early examples, having a different pickguard shape, pickup placing, and also pickup model (generally all SB basses were fitted with the DP-8 in place of the P-bass style split pickup) to most production basses.
