Gibson Firebird I and Firebird III

1964 Gibson Electric Guitars Page 10

Gibson 1964 Guitar and Bass catalogue. Page 10. Continuation of the Firebird series from page 9. Details of two Gibson Firebird models, the single pickup Firebird I guitar, and the dual pickup Firebird III. The Firebird series was not a sucess; this was their first catalogue appearance, but by the time of the 1966 Gibson catalogue they had been drastically redesigned - featuring the rather different reverse body styling. Although they were periodically reissed in small numbers, the reverse body Firebird was not shown as a regular model in catalogues until the 1980s.

Zone 1 USA prices for 1964 were as follows: Firebird I $215, Firebird III $280.
