1966 Gibson full line catalog. Page 10. Details of the Gibson SG Custom and Gibson SG Standard guitars; their first appearance in colour in a Gibson catalog. The SG Custom was Gibson's most special solid body electric, with three pickups and gold plated hardware; naturally it was also the most expensive solid body at that time (excluding double neck guitars) at $455. The still very nice SG Standard was then priced at $305 (US zone 1 prices, October 1966).
