Gibson ES-Artist

1980 Gibson guitar, bass and banjo catalogue, page 33

Gibson 1980 guitar and bass catalogue. Page 33. Details of the Gibson ES-Artist. The ES Artist was the active version of Gibson's thinline ES series, and along with the Les Paul Artist, featured the expansion and compression circuitry first developed for the RD Artist guitar.

The ES Artist was a high-end guitar; the most expensive model in the Gibson ES series, the most expensive active 'Artist' series guitar and also more expensive than any solid body, and even several of the electric acoustic models taking pride of place at the begining of this catalogue. In July 1980, it was listed at $1399.
