This patent refers to Gibson's legendary humbucking pickup designed by engineer Seth Lover in the 1950s, and fitted to numerous Gibson guitars from 1957 onwards. The humbuckers were initially unlabelled, then stickered 'patent applied for' (PAF), before being marked with the deliberately misleading number (apparently to confuse competitors) 2,737,842.
