Kimbara was a house brand of UK musical instrument distributor Fletcher Coppock & Newman Ltd. The name was registered in January 1968, but no electric guitars sported the name until the summer of 1974. Kimbara acoustics sold in greater numbers than electrics, and are more widely seen today in the used guitar market.
Fletcher Coppock & Newman also distributed two lower-priced lines than Kimbara: Columbus and (from 1977) Satellite.
The table below shows the initial range of Kimbara six-string electrics, priced between £85.42 and £115.84. These were relatively good quality guitars built by Matsumoku.
