Details of the dual pickup Hofner President bass (model 5147) and the single pickup Senator bass (model 5144) guitars. Unlike the non-cutaway Senator guitar shown on page 5, the Senator bass (like the President), had a single Venetian cutaway body style. Both basses are listed as available in Brunette finish only - this was, of course, Hofner's version of sunburst.
A big sound, a great appearance and a wonderfully low price - that’s the story behind the newcomer to the famous President series. Fitted with adjustable bridge and the latest "NOVA-SONlC" double pole, double coil pick-ups each having its own volume and tone control. Exclusive "Slenda-nek" with truss rod is another important feature. Machine heads are efficient and smooth working. In glorious brunette sunburst finish with mother-of-pearl dot inlaid fingerboard. F holes and edges are effectively lined in white
The United Kingdom list price in 1964 for these basses was 31 and 48 gns. for the Senator and President respectively: a shade above the equivalent guitar models listed earlier in the catalogue.
