Gibson advertisement (1979) The Active Sound Of The 80s

This advert features three Artist series guitars; each with active electronics designed by Bob Moog: the RD Artist which had been around since 1977, the semi-acoustic ES Artist and Les Paul Artist, which were both new models in 1979

These are all high end models; finely appointed with gold hardware (including truss rod covers, block inlays (except the ES Artist), 'flying f-hole' headstock inlays, and the latest in guitar electronics. All three look stunning in Antique Sunburst finish.

At the time of this advert, the three were listed at $999 for the RD Artist, $1239 for the Les Paul Artist, and $1399 for the ES Artist.
