Columbus was a guitar brand of UK musical instrument distributor Fletcher Coppock & Newman of London (later Kent). In the late 1960s FCN were distributing guitars under the brand name Sheltone, some of which evolved into Columbus, keeping the same model code. The Sheltone N155 became the Coumbus N155. The Columbus guitar name was trade marked on 31 March 1970. Early Columbus electric guitars were likely built by Japanese manufacturer Chushin (who were also responsible for UK brands such as Avon, Saxon and Grant), with acoustics potentially made by Tahara. Columbus production would ultimately move to Korea.
