Tim Shaw developed a number of humbuckers for Gibson in the late 1970s/early 1980s, including the Super Stack; a cream stacked humbucker especially designed for use in the middle position of the Gibson Victory MVX. It was described as a "fully magnet loaded humbucking pick up with 'over and under' coil placement". For further details of the Victory series pickups, see the Victory MV owners manual.
This pickup has a DC resistance of 7.28KΩ in humbucking mode, 7.03KΩ in single coil mode.
The Super Stack is tall and narrow, approximately twice the height and half the width of the Magna Plus - it is after all, the same coils, one on top of the other, rather than side by side. Dimensions (excluding mounting tabs): 2.60" x 0.69" x 1.24".
List of Gibson guitar pickups

Super Stack pickup in situ in the middle position of a 1981 Gibson Victory MV-X. The 'over and under' coil placement makes this humbucker look more like a single coil pickup.

Like the Magna Plus and the Magna Plus B also fitted to the MV-X, the Super Stack is scratchplate-mounted, with three screws (one at the top, two at the bottom) to allow adjustment of both pickup height and rake (tilt).

The unmounted Super Stack, top/side view. Note how the single mounting hole on the left has been converted to a double hole with an additional metal piece.

The unmounted Super Stack, underside/side view. Despite the fact that the windings and formers are largely covered in black tape, this view clearly shows how the two coils are actually stacked. This comparatively tall pickup has a height of approximately 1 1/4".

Gibson Super Stack humbucker underside view. Unlike the Magna Plus pickups fitted to the Victory MV-X, the Super Stack does not display a patent number on its underside.
