Catalog page describing the Hofner Committee; Hofner's finest electric acoustic instrument at the time. Although it is dubbed the 'Model 66 Electric' it is effectively unchanged from examples of the previous few years - quite unlike the Verithin 66 and President 66 (appearing later in this catalogue), both of which have a new body design from preceding years versions.
The Committee was, of course, Hofner's highest placed instrument, both in terms of quality and price; magnificently appointed, and certainly not done justice by the image shown here. The Committee was available as a thinline or full-body instrument, and in blonde or brunette finish, priced between 72-74 gns. in the UK in 1966; a respectable guitar at a respectable price, but still cheaper than even the entry-level solid bodies offered by Gibson in part 3 of this catalogue.
1965/1966 UK prices for the Hofner Committee were as follows:
5123/06 | Committee blonde | 74 gns |
5123/05 | Committee brunette | 72 gns |
5123/061 | Committee blonde thin model | 74 gns |
5123/051 | Committee brunette thin model | 72 gns |
