The first year of the square-shoulder J-50, this guitar plays beautifully and has great projetion Likely in response to the success of Martin's dreadnaught guitars, in 1969, Gibson changed the shape of their core J-45 and J-50 guitars (essentially the same instrument only the J-50 had a natural finished top vs. the J-45's sunburst finish) from round shoulder to square-shoulder. Good condition 1950 Gibson J-50 in natural. This example obviously has some stories, but is a cannon nonetheless! Replacement bridge is stable, with intonation not being a problem. Replacement tuners hold tune well, and are not bent. Guitar has had a recent neck reset, and the action is nice and low. In the process of refinishing the back, back of the neck, and back of the headstock of this example, the top seems (?) to have been stripped but not refinished as well. No apparent cracks or ... more
