This is a road warrior guitar that has been used hard and it shows. There is extensive Gibson-ish finish checking and worn spots over the entire body, especially the back & sides, although I have actually seen worse on my '46 J-45 (NFS). This guitar lived in FL most of its life prior to being with me, so the natural finish is sun-darkened, which is really quite beautiful. The original adjustable bridge was converted to a solid bridge before I bought this guitar, and I have used it as I found... more

Good condition 1950 Gibson J-50 in natural. This example obviously has some stories, but is a cannon nonetheless! Replacement bridge is stable, with intonation not being a problem. Replacement tuners hold tune well, and are not bent. Guitar has had a recent neck reset, and the action is nice and low. In the process of refinishing the back, back of the neck, and back of the headstock of this example, the top seems (?) to have been stripped but not refinished as well. No apparent cracks or ... more

A perfect example of a vintage Gibson guitar that plays incredibly well and has very nice tone that has developed over time. This is a Gibson J-50 made in 1956. It??s been kept in very good condition for its age, with lots of age appropriate finish checking and small signs of use as shown. No wood cracks at all from what we can see. It has nice low action and every note plays well across the fingerboard. The frets look as if they have been dressed sometime in their life. On the bottom of the ... more

The first year of the square-shoulder J-50, this guitar plays beautifully and has great projetion Likely in response to the success of Martin's dreadnaught guitars, in 1969, Gibson changed the shape of their core J-45 and J-50 guitars (essentially the same instrument only the J-50 had a natural finished top vs. the J-45's sunburst finish) from round shoulder to square-shoulder. With it's wider waist and lower bout, the guitar had more projection and produced a tighter, more focused bass and ... more

1966 Gibson J-50
Worn for a good reason: sounds incredible! It has a very nice, clear, open, full sound. When you play it, the body really resonates and the sound blossoms from all sides of the instrument
Pictures show wear commensurate with age and regular use. Some fret wear on the first few frets, but no buzzing or playability issues. This one has a ceramic adjustable saddle, which in my opinion sounds the best of all the adjustable bridge options. Great sustain. ... more
