1970 Gibson bass catalog page 2. Details of the violin-shaped Gibson EB1 bass which had just been reissued. It had not been included in a Gibson catalog for over a decade - see the 1958 Gibson catalogue for the previous appearance. The reissue did not last long; the vast majority of instruments were shipped in 1970.
The EB1 was the most expensive solid body bass in the Gibson range, even more than the two-pickup Gibson EB3. 1970 US zone 1 price for the EB1 was $395.
Versatility! that's the best way to describe this outstanding electric 'violin shaped' bass. Play the EB-1 the conventional way - in horizontal position. Or use the telescopic stand, and perform with the instrument in an upright position.
