This page describes three hollow-body Gibson electric acoustic models: the double cutaway thinline Gibson ES-330TD; and two full-body single cutaway guitars, the ES-175D and ES-125CD (not pictured). All three models were completely hollow - i.e. no solid maple block running the length of the body, as was the case for the ES-335TD and ES-345TD shown on the previous page. The image of the ES-175D in Natural finish had been used by Selmer since the earliest UK catalog appearances in August 1963 (see 1963/1964 Selmer catalog), whilst this ES-330TD image was first used in the 1965/1966 catalog. The ES-125CD was a relatively short-lived model and appears not to have been pictured in UK publicity material, though naturally appears in US catalogs, for example the 1966 US Gibson catalog.
The dual pickup ES-125CD was also produced with just one pickup (ES-125C), though as this is not listed, perhaps these were not imported to the UK at this time.
1968/1969 UK prices for these Gibson hollow bodies were as follows:
5420/02 | ES-330TDC Cherry | 235 gns |
5420/05 | ES-330TD Sunburst | 228 gns |
5421/06 | ES-175DN Natural | 298 gns |
5421/05 | ES-175D Sunburst | 288 gns |
5410 | ES-125CD Sunburst | 220 gns |
