Like O. S , their low end acoustic guitars were all birch but by the Seventies (as Harmony approached its own demise), the quality of tone woods were upgraded to spruce tops and mahogany bodies. Sound quality improved as well

Now this is a cool old Monterey. Hard to find them in blonde. It plays great with nice low easy action. The tuners and bridge were upgraded at some point, pickguard is a replacement. Yes there is aging and wear, its is 60 plus year old but a great old vintage guitar that plays great. There looks to be a top crack repair on the bass side by the waist. Silvertone 1420 made by Harmony Stratotone model pickup riser for two pickup guitar from the early 1960s. It's wood, possibly rosewood. These were on both the Silvertone and Harmony branded Stratone model guitars. So it should fit a variety of projects.
