Guitar makers have advertised in music magazines such as Down Beat, Guitar Player and very many more. Some manufacturers advertised widely (Guild, Gibson, Fender) but many more didn't and adverts are few and far between. Here are some of my favourite ads out of the ones i've seen. You can browse through all the images from the category links above, or by manufacturer from the links below.

Wem Dominator

Peterborough, PE8***, UNITED KINGDOM

£100

I bought this on a whim around 10 years ago. From memory it blows fuses as soon as you switch it on. I did have the speaker connected, obviously, can't remember why it isn't now. I may have tried a different one in it. It now has a known good speaker, a vintage Celestion Lead 80 which I bought about 30 years ago and have never used (apart from to possibly to try in this combo)
My plan was to fix it up but 10 years later it's still gathering dust and my need for a Wem Dominator is even less ... view on ebay

£1795

Vintage 1950s WEM Watkins Dominator MK1 Black V Front 2x10 Valve Amplifier Combo
This is a wonderfully rare original Mark 1 'Black Panel' 1950s Watkins Dominator V Front. It's one of the cleanest I have ever seen. You often see the blue panel version of this V fronted amplifier, but black panel was only made for a few months in the 1950s. The sound is to die for - basically like an 18w Marshall bluesbreaker. This one has been serviced not too long ago, to a high standard, with all the parts ... view on ebay
